CHRISTINE GRANGER
HALLELUJAH
In HALLELUJAH, Christine once again presents original works of art in the icon tradition. While some of the paintings are more traditional, others are very expressive and joyful, often filled with playful, vibrant images of the Madonna and Child surrounded by animals. This is not surprising when one discovers that Christine lives on a farm where she and her husband share their lives with a variety of domestic and wild animals.
She says:
"When you live on a farm up close to nature, you experience the seasons, the colours, the migration of birds. You recognize the paths of forest creatures and glimpse their fleeting forms. The care of farm fowl and animals becomes part of your everyday routine. You witness births and deaths. You discover that each creature is unique and an individual character, each beautifully designed and formed. These animals bring delight and teach you innocence. In the abundant life around you everywhere, at all times, you see the hand of God."
Christine Granger is an internationally acclaimed iconographer and artist who has been working in the icon tradition for over thirty years. Her icons can be found in many private and public collections, including the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
