Galerie McKenzie Marcotte in Wakefield Quebec is pleased to present 'Recent Western Painting', an exhibition of oil paintings by Chelsea artist Michael Sproule. The show opens Friday May 18 at 7 pm and continues until June 19.

Michael Sproule has just returned from five months as “Artist in Residence” at the Wallace Stegner House in Eastend Saskatchewan. There, he explored the dramatic Cypress Hills region and the South Saskatchewan River. His new work continues the geological theme of his “Lure of the Badlands” show which toured Medicine Hat, Red Deer and Lethbridge Alberta earlier this year. The new paintings reflect once again Michael’s interest in the transforming role of nature; the capacity of uplifting forces, erosion and deposition to change the landscape over millions of years.
