MICHAEL SPROULE
GLACIATED TERRAIN
Galerie McKenzie Marcotte is thrilled to be showing GLACIATED TERRAIN a new collection of Michael Sproule's recent paintings.
Michael Sproule's latest paintings trace the imprint of glaciers on the Canadian landscape from the Waterton Lakes in Alberta to Cantley Quebec. The sculpted shapes and flowing curves that are the results of glacial activity are predominant in this dramatic and colourful body of work. In this exhibition, there is ample evidence of Michael's passion for complex geology. In fact, the geological phenomena behind the changing landscape provides the underlying structure for his work. Michael Sproule has made a significant contribution to Canadian landscape painting and this work is further evidence of a mature artist at the peak of his creative powers.
